Every year I am tasked with the awesome responsibility of composing words that will convey the sincerity and heartfelt appreciation to everyone who have been a part of the Miss Miami Broward Carnival Pageant. Looking back, it seems almost like a dream, for it was only a few years ago that we came up with this idea. We love Carnival, but we wanted an avenue to showcase the diversity of Carnival, focusing on the human element of Carnival and the richness of and traditions of the Carnival Queen. So with the able assistance of our wonderful Board of Directors, we developed this program and now the Miss Miami Broward Carnival Pageant is one of the most anticipated shows for the Carnival season!
We could not have done this without the wonderful young ladies who have chosen this forum to showcase their talent and demonstrate their intelligence, poise, charm and versatility. Our contestants come from various walks of life. Some of them are students, working professionals, all of them preparing to take their place in the world and using their experiences at this pageant to enhance their potential. For Miss Miami Broward Carnival Pageant is not a beauty competition. It is an avenue for us as people of the Caribbean, as representatives of the Caribbean Diaspora to show the world the rich source of talent that is Miss Miami Broward Carnival Pageant. But yet, our contestants are beautiful , confident, charming and wonderful and resourceful; Queens and winners by any standard. If past experiences is our yardstick, our contestants have done an excellent job as ambassadors of our rich and multicultural Caribbean culture. But let us not forget our sponsors who have joined in partnership with us when we were but a concept and have continued to support us truly demonstrating their belief and commitment to our cultural heritage. With their continued support, they are showing us that the best is yet to come and this is our affirmation and it is the driving force in our continued path to excellence. But you, our audience deserves special accolades; for without you, there is no us and because of you we continue to grow, confident of your continued support.
